Station Ten: Turkey Math
Skill/Content Objective:
reinforces different multiplication strategies
develop fluency
helps students understand the relationships between factors
Materials:
Construction paper
Dice or dominoes
markers
Precut shapes (feather, turkey body)
Description and Differentiation:
Students are to roll the dice ( or use the dominoes) to come up with their multiplication problem.
To differenitate you can have some students multply two one digit factors while other students can do a two digit factor by a one digit or higher.
Once they have that number they are to write that on the head of body of their turkery. On the face of the turkey they write the product of the factors.
There are many ideas for the feathers listed below. Feel free to come up with your own.
Ideas to write on the feathers:
the addition sentence for the multiplication problem
another multiplication problem with the same product but different factors
an array of this problem
this problem depicted as a set
Assessment:
The teacher is walking around listening and watching to ensure students are on track and are accurate in their response. Work will be checked for accuracy and displayed around the classroom.
Students can use the I Can card to help them stay on track.
