Station Six: Multiplication Lapbook
Skill/Content and Objective:
Develop fluency
understand that multiplication is repeated addition
understand that the patterns and relationships that exists amongst the fact families
Materials:
crayons
markers
construction paper
file folder
Description and Differentiation:
I absolutely love this idea and is a project that can be worked on throughtout the entire muliplication unit. Based on your classroom needs it can be updated and altered as needed. Teacher instructions have been uploaded as well as this assignment works best with guidance. As students are reviewing their multiplication facts they will complete one section of the folder. Of course this can be changed to fix your classroom needs, so not all of the factors my be represented in your students lap books.
I would make the flap "Facts I need to Learn" closer to the beginning of the unit. This is a quick way for you to access where students are just by glancing at their folder.
Assessment:
This lapfolder can be used as an ongoing summative assessment. For example, after teaching a lesson on array you can ask students to then write in their own words and then illustrate what an array is. That response would go into this folder and be checked for accuracy.
