Station Two: Multiplication Game "Buzz Buzz"
Skill Content/Objective:
Fluency in multiplication
Materials
transparent game pieces (2 colors)
game board
dice
Description
Students take turn rolling two dice.
The two numbers become the factors in their multiplication problem.
Students should say their multiplication problem out loud. For example if they roll 5 and 6 they should say 5*6=30.
Once they find the product, they locate it on the board and mark it with a game piece. The first one to make it to three in a row wins.
Assessment:
The teacher will go around and look and listen for students stating their multiplication problems with the correct answers. If incorrect responses are heard, the teacher will assist the student in finding the correct answer. Students can be prompted to use other strategies for multiplying (making arrays, using number lines, repeated addition, etc.).
